WMD1
The WMD in Maray, closed

Mofang WMDs (Weapons of Mass Destruction) are devices created by the Mofang in the Mofang War to destroy other species. There are warnings about getting close to such devices nailed on exterior walls next to some doors in Downtown Hunrath, as well as in other places.

Description[]

WMDOpen1
The WMD open, but not yet fully activated

The weapons, similar to all other Mofang devices, are shiny dark red shot through with bright red lines. They open into several segments, but when closed they have twelve pentagonal faces. They hover above the ground. A Mofang WMD is activated by proximity. If triggered, its segments expand outward, it throws off red and black clouds, and finally it explodes with an expanding sphere effect.

History[]

WMDDetonation1
The WMD beginning to detonate

Two WMDs are known to have existed. One was sent to Kaptar, but the information had leaked and a counteroffensive plan was waiting for it. Polyarch Del, the Arai Remainer on Kaptar, was commanding an Arai beetle that was hovering over a switch mechanism that would reactivate the seed-swap device as soon as it would swap to Soria. When the area was swapped, bringing the WMD to Kaptar, the Arai beetle swapped back, sending the WMD back to detonate on Soria and devastate the Mofang cell.

A second WMD was sent to Maray, where the Villein Remainers engaged in an armed standoff with the Mofang attending it. The Mofang, impersonating the mayor of Hunrath, gunned down one of the Villein Remainers (Aprar or Orbar) but became stuck in a standoff with the second guard, Trar. The false mayor then attempted to deceitfully obtain the player character's aid, but was shot dead by Trar just as the PC was about to arrive on the scene. With the help of the injured Trar, the PC can view the real Mayor in the Silo, after which Trar opens the door towards the WMD by vocal command. At that point the PC can either neutralize the WMD with a nearby Mofang disabler, or foolishly activate it by proximity, destroying the entire Cell.

A third WMD was likely intended for Hunrath, but since things didn't progress that far, it must have still been on Soria when the first one detonated and destroyed it along with the Cell.
