Obduction

Obduction is a first-person adventure game developed and published by Cyan, Inc., the creators of the Myst series of video games. It is a puzzle-solving game with a strong dependency on environmental storytelling. The player-character, meant to represent the player themselves, is abducted by a strange flying "seed" to a deserted settlement and must explore and puzzle-solve to discover what has become of the inhabitants and why they were abducted in the first place.

Obduction is currently on version 1.8.4.1 and it is available on Xbox. The Steam version also includes a number of Achievements. It runs on Windows (7, 8, 10, 11) and Mac OS X (10.12.4+)

Features

  • Build every element of the experience to make you, the player, feel like this virtual world has become your world.
  • The interface should be intuitive and transparent.
  • The story should be revealed through exploration and not necessarily shoveled out in cinematic form.
  • The puzzles should range from easy to difficult, but even the toughest puzzles should be designed so that you know that all the pieces to solve it are there in front of you.
  • The sound and music should be balanced; they should add emotion but not become distracting or annoying.
