Red beam is a beam emitted by projectors of Mofang technology. Pointed to a Cell's dome, they inhibit passage through cell wall portals. In the Lockdown List, the projector and the red beam are referred to as dome disabler.
History[]
In a document found at C.W.'s workshop titled Mofang Solid Volume Projector, C.W. states that without knowing why, he tried pointing the projection of a Solid volume projector (devices given by the Mofang to the humans) on the cell wall and discovered that while doing so, all transport through the wall cell was suppressed. In the Test kiosk recording, Farley asks C.W. whether the Mofang had given him these projectors, to which C.W. answers affirmatively.
According to another document also found in the workshop, titled Lockdown List, contains the instruction to "activate the dome disabler" of Hunrath. Indeed, during the Mofang War, Red beams were pointed to cell domes to block all local portals, which is how the player finds them at first entrance into each Cell, except of course, for the destroyed one of Soria.
Description[]
Just like with Solid volume projectors, Red beam devices have (as per C.W.'s terminology): one central projector element, three control arms and three communications arms. The difference is that while in other projectors these seven elements are initially closed in one cone and open by proximity, hovering above a makeshift hub, the red beam devices have the hovering central element enveloped by three bent wires at the tip of a canon-like stand, while all the arms are permanently open, slowly rotating around the projector element which is emitting the red beam.
Disabling the Red beam[]
The only known way of stopping the device from emitting the red beam is by poining the blue beam of a Mofang disabler on it. These devices are of Villein technology, and disable any Mofang technology device.
