The rotator next to the Bosque of Hunrath
loaded with the Polyarch antechamber sphere

Rotators are mechanisms used to rotate spherical or partly spherical parts. There are two rotators in Hunrath, one situated at the Sphere location of the rear side of Hunrath and the other within the Mineshaft area. There are also two rotators of Villein technology in Maray, both situated in the Gauntlet area.

The Sphere rotator[]

The rotator in the mineshaft
loaded with one of the maze pieces

This rotator is found early on in the game, right next to the Bosque of Hunrath. It rotates one part of a swap pair, the other of which is located in Kaptar. It consists of a suspention base with four trolleys rotated on a single railtrack. Three of the trolleys are made of a side frame with two railwheels each and one is a modified motorcycle with a train wheel behind and one truck wheel in front. Outside the rail, six pillars hold in place a wooden circular footwalk which allows access to the sphere from different directions. A button on the side of one of the pillars rotates the sphere 45° anticlockwise at a time.

The 'Mineshaft' location rotator[]

The second Gauntlet dome with its rotator switch

This rotator is found in the Mineshaft area of Hunrath and rotates one part of a swap pair of similar spheres of Villein technology, the other of which is located in Maray. Its rotating mechanism is also suspended on train wheel trolleys running on a railtrack. It is located at the bottom of the mine cavity with a wooden platform above it allowing access to the sphere. It is instrumental for solving the Gauntlet Maze Puzzle. Two buttons mounted on a level just above the rotating sphere can rotate the sphere either 90° clockwise (bottom) or anticlockwise (top).

The Maray rotators[]

The switch of the big Gauntlet maze rotator

After the first dome of the Gauntlet area of Maray, we find a dome whose interior can be rotated. The switch activating the rotation is in front of its entrance and has two buttons: clockise and anticlockwise. They both result in the same result however, as in both cases the rotation is of 180°.

The biggest of all rotators in Obduction is the one rotating the Gauntlet maze. Its switch is on a balcony overlooking the maze. Its left button will turn the whole maze 90° clockwise and its right button 90° anticlockwise.
